LFW SS14

I'm not really one to take much interest in Fashion Week (I'm a highstreet/vintage girl through and through) but I thought since I have a blog I should at least make the effort to tweet about it. So a had a little google and ended up spending about 5 hours scrolling through the different designers and collections. I'm hooked. I loved almost everything that was sent down the runway, but these were my very favourites.
I was going to write a little something about each collection, but all I really have to say is that together they're everything I love in an outfit: subtly feminine, colourful, and heavily embellished.
I can't wait until Topshop makes a cheap version of it all so I can grab myself a pair of sequinned boyfriend jeans. Jk I'd look like a twat, but kudos to anyone who manages to pull them off.

FORGOTTEN GEM

TOP: Beyond Retro SHORTS: COW Vintage

I'm off to London for the day, and what better time to wear something a bit out there than during fashion week, because absolutely nobody will bat an eyelid.
Inspired by Ashish's SS14 sparkling sequin collection, I thought I'd pull this hidden gem out of my wardrobe and give it some airtime. I've only ever worn this top once, for my birthday, over a year ago, and had completely forgotten about it till yesterday.
It's so beautiful and surprisingly light considering it's entirely embellished, I just never have an occasion to wear it. I also think it broadens my shoulders a bit too much but that's nothing a denim jacket can't fix.
And once again the trusty gingham shorts make an appearance; they seem to go with absolutely everything, thanks COW u da best. (See them in another post here)

I'm opting for Docs on the feet, thoughts?

P.S. I'm starting to get the hang of Pinterest, if you'd like to follow me you can click the button over on your right or go here: http://www.pinterest.com/ellenmaryblog

BESTIVAL IN 35MM

COCKTAILS/GYSPY CARAVAN WHERE I HAD MY TAROT CARDS READ/BOLLYWOOD TENT/PAELLARIA/THE PORT/CAMPSITE/COMPOST LOOS/WATERMELON COCKTAIL/INSIDE BOLLYWOOD/LIGHTS/ME AND MA BEZZIE

Last weekend I travelled all the way to the Isle of Wight for Bestival. It was SO much fun, SO crazy and SO exhausting. My highlights were Bombay Bicycle Club, Crystal Fighters and all of Saturday night, which went as follows: Cyril Hahn, Julio Bashmore, Annie Mac, Snoop Dogg, Hudson Mohawke and Simian Mobile Disco. Uh-huh, it was immense. And if you have no idea who some of those are, look 'em up (if you're into dancey house music).
I also owe it to Bestival for introducing me to my new favourite genre, Polka. If you want to know what Mumford & Sons would sound like if they were Eastern European and had just taken speed, this is it. It's so upbeat and energetic, we managed to spend a good couple of hours bouncing around the Polka tent.
And when the music was finished there was loads of other crazy stuff going on all over the place, the site was absolutely huge. It was hands down one of the best weekends of my life and I will no doubt be returning next year, despite the 6 hour journey.
I was way too busy being drunk and having an amazing time to take any decent pictures, but here is the cream of the (pretty rubbish) crop.
If you want to see some better ones head on over to the Bestival website, and buy your ticket for next year while you're there.
